Sports Psychology

The main goal of our services is to improve sport performance. Services can be delivered to individuals, teams and/or coaches.

For Individual athletes

Private one on one sessions for performance enhancement interventions. If there is a mental health concern it will also be addressed. The most common problem athletes have is performance anxiety which adversely affects optimal performance during a game/match/event. Specific services can include how to manage performance anxiety, emotional arousal regulation, stress and anger, attention and concentration and team relationships. These skills can be developed through techniques such as imagery, relaxation techniques, controlling the controllables, task relevant focus, intrinsic motivation, confidence, goal setting and injury recovery. Athletes can obtain these services by calling 856-225-6005 and asking for a sport performance consultation.

For Teams (Optional)

Performance enhancement workshops with entire teams or portion of a team depending on the need. Services can include team building, group cohesion, effective role execution, and developing effective leadership skills. Any of the services listed above for individuals can also be provided for teams. Coaches can request team services by using this link Program/Collaboration Request Form – Student Wellness Center (rutgers.edu)

For Coaches (Optional)
